Ripalta Vecchia

Welcome to Ripalta Vecchia!

If you are looking for a peaceful corner of the province of Cremona, you are in the right place. Ripalta Vecchia is a charming agricultural village of ancient origin, included in the municipality of Madignano from 1809 to 1868. Today I will take you on a discovery of its historical and architectural peculiarities.

History

The village of Ripalta Vecchia dates back to the medieval era. Over the centuries, it has undergone numerous ownership changes. In the 19th century, with the advent of the Napoleonic era, it was annexed to the municipality of Madignano, but regained autonomy with the establishment of the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom. In 1868, the municipality of Ripalta Vecchia was definitively merged into that of Madignano.

Monuments and places of interest

The Church of Sant'Imerio, built in the 18th century, is the heart of the historic center. In Baroque style, it is dedicated to the patron saint of the ancient village and preserves its frescoes. The church is open to the faithful on Sundays and religious holidays.

In the surrounding area, we find the suggestive Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Marzale, located on a terrace with a panoramic view. The ancient place of worship reveals the religious passion of its inhabitants since prehistoric times. The sanctuary can be reached on foot through the road that enters the hill from the village.

Notes

Ripalta Vecchia, although annexed to Madignano, has maintained its own identity and tradition. In daily life, the village appears as a small universe, far from the confusion and chaos of big cities.

Other projects

Our small community is fortunate to be surrounded by vast green areas that are perfect for walking and relaxing. Moreover, the surrounding valleys offer the opportunity to practice sports such as trekking and mountain biking.
