History

Lustra has an ancient and fascinating history. From 1811 to 1860, the municipality was part of the Administrative Subdivision of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, belonging to the Vallo District. Subsequently, during the Kingdom of Italy (1861-1946), Lustra was part of the Torchiara district, belonging to the Vallo della Lucania District.

Monuments and places of interest

One of the most interesting places in the area is the Baronial Castle, located in the administrative fraction of Rocca Cilento, and restored in the 60s by Ruggero Moscati. The construction, dating back to the late Middle Ages, is characterized by a cylindrical tower and a rounded arch portal.

Lustra is well-connected to the main communication routes in the area. The State Road 18 Tirrena Inferiore represents one of the main axes of connection, while the provincial roads 46, 112, 116, 221 and 430 allow easy access to nearby cities.

Administration

The municipality of Lustra is part of the Alento-Monte Stella Mountain Community and the Union of Alto Cilento municipalities. The competences for land defense are delegated by Campania to the Regional Basin Authority of Sinistra Sele.
