Lugo di Vicenza

Welcome to Lugo di Vicenza

Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about the Municipality of Lugo di Vicenza, a small town in the heart of Veneto, just a few kilometers from Vicenza. With its 3616 inhabitants, Lugo is a quiet town surrounded by nature, perfect for those seeking some relaxation away from the chaos of the cities.

The geography of Lugo di Vicenza

The territory of Lugo is characterized by a great variety of natural environments. The Astico river runs through the lower part of the municipality, while to the west there are the hills of Bregonze, the foothills with the Monte San Pietro and, further south, the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni with Monte Mazze, the highest and largest mountain in the Granezza area. These places offer unique natural spectacles, such as the Bocchetta Granezza, where roads from Asiago, Calvene, Monte Mazze, and Lusiana converge. From here it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Venetian plain.

Lugo di Vicenza: between nature, flora and fauna.

The flora and fauna of Lugo di Vicenza

The territory of Lugo is rich in flora and fauna. The hills are cultivated and are perfect for the production of wine and oil, but there are still important chestnut woods. As altitude increases, black hornbeams, robinias, chestnuts, beeches, and firs are found. In the Vanzo area, in the Casare del Broca locality, there is the largest and most majestic beech in Veneto, 26 meters high and with a circumference of 5.45 meters. The fauna is equally varied, and animals such as roe deer, wild boar, foxes, and chamois can be encountered.

Origins of the name

The name Lugo di Vicenza derives from the Latin ''lucus'', which means sacred wood. In fact, until a few centuries ago, the territory was covered with woods, hence the name of some streets and districts in the hilly area, such as Boschetti and Roveri.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a peaceful place immersed in nature, Lugo di Vicenza is the perfect place for you. Here you can admire breathtaking landscapes, taste the flavors of Venetian cuisine, and enjoy the hospitality of its inhabitants. We await you!
