According to some scholars, instead, the name "Lozzo" would derive from the Roman family of Lucii, owners of the lands in the area. The toponym "Atestino", instead, has an origin linked to the name of the Adige river, called "Athesis" in Latin. During the Lombard period, the area passed to the Vicenza committee and then returned under the control of Padua. During Venetian domination, Lozzo Atestino became a holiday destination for the patricians of the Serenissima.
