Origins of the name

The toponym "Longone" has Roman roots and would derive from the name of the leader Caio Manlio Longone, who fought a great battle within the current municipal territory. In 1865, the attribute "al Segrino" was added to the name of Longone to distinguish it from the municipality of Longone Sabino. Lake Segrino, fed by underground springs at the foot of Mount Cornizzolo, attracts many tourists every year.
