Ceppine
Ceppine: a small hamlet in Tradate where history and nature meet
Ceppine is a hamlet of the municipality of Tradate, in the province of Varese, with a population of approximately 2,700 inhabitants. The name of the district comes from the word "cepada," which means bushes and hedges, and its coat of arms is characterized by the green color of the grass and the symbol of the church of Sant'Anna, in brick color, together with the log that gives its name to the district.
History
The district originated from two groups of farms located on the road to Torba and Castelseprio. Its buildings have been constructed in the last thirty years, and once the neighborhood was known for its green spaces, which have decreased over time due to increasing urbanization. In 1993, Carlo Maria Martini, the Archbishop of Milan, visited the Parish of Ceppine during his pastoral visit to the city of Tradate.
Physical geography
Ceppine borders various municipal realities and is located 1.5 km from the hamlet of Torba belonging to the municipality of Gornate Olona and 14 km from Varese.
Culture
Ceppine is famous for its patron saint's feast, which is held on July 26 in the church dedicated to Sant'Anna. The traditional festival also includes a food stand, a charity fishing contest, a fireworks show, and musical entertainment throughout the week.
Since 1999, every year in July, the beach volleyball tournament is organized on a permanent field, which involves numerous players from all over the province. Each tournament sees the participation of about 35-38 teams divided into groups and with a minimum of 5 games to play. The duration of the tournament is about 11 days.
In 2013, the festival of Tradate associations was organized, with about 50 stands of cultural, sports, and social associations. In addition, there were exhibitions by the Civic Music School and the first meeting of Piaggio Vespa and Innocenti Lambretta. During the festival of associations, the first tournament was held between city middle schools (indoor soccer and beach volleyball) and a special "X Factor (Italy)" organized by Liceo Musicale Bellini.
