Lisciano Niccone is located halfway between Umbertide (PG) and Cortona (AR) and is separated from Tuscany by the Niccone river, which separates it from the hamlets of Mercatale (Cortona) and Mengaccini, of the municipality of Cortona. The highest point of the municipal territory is Monte Castiglione (802 m). The municipality's climate classification is zone E, with 2109 GR/G.

The municipality has medieval origins and has been owned by Perugia since 1202, belonging then to the Casali of Cortona. In 1479 it returned under the Papal State and remained there until 1861, when it was united with the Kingdom of Italy. On the territory there are the ruins of an eleventh-century castle and a church dedicated to Saint Thomas Apostle.
