During the Ten Years' War, Lezzeno hosted part of the fortifications that constituted the defensive system of the Comacina Island, which sided with Milan. In the following centuries, Lezzeno grew and took on an important role in the Pieve d'Isola, serving as a vice-parish until it became the seat of an autonomous parish in 1780.

The blue enamel evokes the lake, while the silver one represents the mountains that overlook the inhabited area.
