Sclaunicco owes its name to the Slavonic personnel Sclavonius, which represented the Slavic settlements of the time. In the 15th century, it was owned by the Count of Gorizia and was part of the Pieve of Mortegliano. The oldest historical documents regarding Sclaunicco date back to 1610.
