Let's start with the name. Originally, this village was called Fogna, which in the local dialect means something like "Fonga", referring to a sort of Gravina. However, due to the possible negative connotation of the name, especially in light of the political changes of the 1930s, the Mayor decided to change it.
So, the village was renamed "Villa Littorio", a name decidedly more poetic and celebratory. The name derives from the "Fascio Littorio", a celebratory weapon used in ancient Rome and became the symbol of the National Fascist Party.
After the end of World War II, all villages that had names that referred to Fascism were renamed. However, Villa Littorio was the exception. Precisely because of this, it is the only village in Italy with a name that refers to that historical period.

Villa Littorio is located in Italy, precisely in the Frazione of the municipality of Laurino. It is located at an altitude of 640 meters above sea level. The historic center, characterized by beautiful stone houses, was partially damaged by the Irpinia earthquake of 1980.
