Hello everyone! Today I am taking you on a journey of discovery to Lattarico, a municipality in the province of Cosenza in Calabria. With a population of 3,853 inhabitants, Lattarico is a hilly area that offers a wonderful view of the Crati Valley.

Origins of the name

The name of the town dates back to the Roman landlord Lattaricus, however in ancient times it was known as Ocriculum, a name of Osco-Umbrian origin that means "mountain".

History

If you are passionate about history, Lattarico is the right place for you. In the past, the town was known not only to the Romans but also to ancient Greece. The history of the municipality is highlighted in the official symbols of the coat of arms and the banner. Both were granted by decree of the President of the Republic in 2008.

Today, Lattarico has a population of just over 3,000 people, but its ancient history and cultural heritage make it a really interesting place to visit.

Demographic evolution

The town has undergone a significant demographic decline in recent years, but the community is strong and active and there are initiatives aimed at promoting the town and the surrounding area.
