Chiesuola
Discovering Chiesuola
Hello everyone! Today I'll be talking about Chiesuola, a small hamlet in the municipality of Latina, in the province of Latina.
History
The name Chiesuola comes from the small church of San Carlo di Piscinara, built in 1691 by Gaetano Caetani. The building, now in ruins, was located where the current sports fields are. Initially, the plan was to turn Chiesuola into a "Borgo", like all the other hamlets in Latina, with the name Borgo Tagliamento. However, due to the outbreak of World War II, the works were never completed, leaving Chiesuola unaltered over time.
Chiesuola today
Currently, Chiesuola is a small urban settlement that develops at the intersection of three main roads: Strada della Chiesuola, Strada delle Congiunte Destre and Strada della Cava. In 2013, a group of locals formed the Chiesuola Committee to prevent the construction of a biogas plant near the homes. Thanks to the commitment of all the residents, the plant was never built, preserving the natural beauty of the area.
Local initiatives
Following this success, in 2014, the Chiesuola Committee organized the "Harvest Festival", an event awaited for over 21 years that celebrates local traditions. Moreover, in July 2017, a delegation from the Chiesuola Committee went to Accumoli to donate the proceeds of a charity evening held during the Harvest Festival 2017, demonstrating their support and solidarity following the earthquake that had hit the area.
