The new Lascari train station: a convenient stop
The Lascari train station is a modern stop on the Palermo-Messina railway line, serving the town of Lascari and the surrounding Madonie district. It was activated on December 18, 2016, replacing the previous Lascari-Gratteri station, located three hundred meters towards Messina from the new station.
The facility consists of two tracks and a modern technological service building, equipped with an underpass, ramps for disabled people, and stairs. Everything is covered by modern shelters, providing shelter in case of bad weather. The station has two entrances: one with ample parking on the S.S. 113 side and the other on the seaside, via Piane Nuove.
The station in the context of the Fiumetorto-Cefalù-Castelbuono doubling project
The construction of the new Lascari station is part of the Fiumetorto-Cefalù-Castelbuono doubling project, which has been divided into two lots: lot 1 includes the new stop, while lot 2 extends from Cefalù Ogliastrillo to Castelbuono.
The doubling of the railway line will constitute an important infrastructure enhancement of Palermo's railway network and will allow a reduction in travel time and the introduction of a scheduled service on railway connections between Cefalù and Palermo.
