Lardaro

Greetings from Lardaro!

Hello everyone! Today we will talk about Lardaro, a small hamlet in the province of Trento that until 2015 was an autonomous municipality. With its 228 inhabitants, it is one of the smallest municipalities in the Trentino-Alto Adige region.

History

Lardaro has an ancient history and has been involved in important historical events. In 1866, Garibaldi led the "Red Shirts" in a major invasion of Trentino, during which Lardaro and the Chiese valley were involved in battles against the Austrian forces. In addition, the town was hit by a terrible fire in 1867 that almost completely destroyed the town center. During the First World War, Lardaro played an important role as a defense zone, with the presence of six forts (two of which are still visible).
