Fronti

The Atmosphere of Fronti

Fronti is a small hamlet surrounded by woods, olive groves, and vineyards that extends over a scenic hill at an altitude of 575 meters. The Mediterranean climate makes temperatures pleasant almost all year round, with mild winters and hot summers.

The History of Fronti

The hamlet of Fronti has an ancient history dating back to 1700. At that time, the first settlements were the "Old Houses" on the other side of the Badia stream, which no longer exists today, and the first roads were only accessible by mules and donkeys. Over the years, other urban settlements were built in front of the "Old Houses," on the other side of the stream, forming the real village with the district of "Casenuove." Initially, it was part of the parish of Zangarona, but in 1814, the parish of Quinzi was established, and it became part of it until August 31, 1940. Probably, the inhabitants of Fronti also deserve credit for the construction of the church of Soccorso, located in the Magolà district.

During the years of the Second World War, the hamlet of Fronti hosted several families who resided in Nicastro and, during the liberation from the Germans, it was an area of English military camps. Like all the villages in Calabria at that time, Fronti was also hit by the phenomenon of emigration.
