The territory of Lambrugo has a characteristic triangular shape and borders to the east with the municipalities of Costa Masnaga and Nibionno, to the south with those of Inverigo, to the west with that of Lurago d'Erba, and to the north with that of Merone.

Its altitude ranges between 238 and 340 meters above sea level, with an average height of 290 meters recorded at the municipal seat. The territory is predominantly hilly and rich in wooded areas. Furthermore, Lambrugo is crossed by the Lambro river and is included in the Regional Park of the Lambro Valley.

From a seismological point of view, Lambrugo can be considered lucky: in fact, it has low seismicity and has been classified as a zone 4 municipality by the national Civil Protection Department.

In the Middle Ages, it was subject to the dominion of the Benedictine monks of San Vincenzo a Galliano, who rebuilt the churches of San Pietro and Santa Marta. In 1928, Lambrugo was annexed to the province of Como.
