In the 1400-1500s, the territory of Mocogno became a podesteria of the Pio di Savoia di Carpi, lords of Sassuolo. Lama Mocogno was a trading place thanks to its roads that connected the villages of the middle and upper Frignano. The original settlement was called Mocogno and was represented in a fresco inside the castle of Spezzano in the Hall of Painted Views by Cesare Boglione in the 1500s. In 1717, Count Achille Tacoli and his wife Camilla Tassoni took possession of the county of Valdalbero, in which the Tacoli family exercised its own power as an autonomous entity from Mocogno and with its own podester duties.
