Sala

Discovering the history of Sala

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about Sala, a beautiful hamlet in the municipality of Istrana, in the province of Treviso. The first mention of Sala dates back to 996 in a deed of the Bishop of Treviso Rozone. It seems that the name derives from the presence of a hall belonging to the Lombards, in fact the village is located along the Via Postumia that had been travelled by King Alboin when he descended from Northern Italy.

The Parish Church

The history of Sala is very interesting, but I want to focus now on its monuments and places of interest. The parish church of Sala is a very ancient building that dates back to the eighteenth century. From research, we know that in the fourteenth century there was already a chapel in the village, but only in 1552 was the first specific mention of the church made, which was then endowed with its own baptismal font. The building was consecrated in 1779 by Bishop Paolo Francesco Giustinian.

The interiors are very interesting, especially for wood enthusiasts. In fact, the main altar and choir are the works of Andrea Brustolon, an important eighteenth-century sculptor. So if you visit Sala, don't forget to admire these wonderful works of art.

Notes

In conclusion, if you find yourself in the Treviso area and you want to discover a beautiful village with a very interesting history, I recommend visiting Sala. This small hamlet of Istrana is the ideal place for those seeking tranquillity and culture. Thanks for reading and until the next adventure!
