Isorella: an ancient community in Lower Brescia

Isorella is a municipality in the province of Brescia, located in the eastern Lower Brescia, near the borders of the provinces of Cremona and Mantua. The landscape of Isorella is entirely flat, with a maximum altitude of 60 m at the border with Ghedi and a minimum of 48 m at the border with Gambara and Gottolengo.

The history of Isorella dates back to the time of the French Revolution, when the municipality created its own coat of arms composed of the Republican fasces, a symbol of freedom, and the Phrygian cap, which expressed the revolutionary character. Between 1817 and 1950, the landscape of Isorella was dominated by the Austrian "Ponte Grande", later replaced by a wider bridge for traffic reasons.

The urban landscape of Isorella is characterized by the course of the Naviglio di Brescia and the Brescia-Parma provincial road. Two churches, the "Ancella" on the left bank and the "Signora" on the right bank, are located almost facing each other on the two sides of the canal.
