Marano

Marano di Isera: A Village in Trentino

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk about Marano, a village located in the municipality of Isera in the autonomous province of Trento. This small village has a unique history and several attractions that are worth knowing.

The History of Marano

Marano was an Italian municipality founded in 1920 following the annexation of Trentino to the Kingdom of Italy. However, in 1929 it was merged with the municipality of Isera, to which it still belongs today. Since the mid-19th century, several occasional discoveries related to a Roman necropolis located in the locality of Coré were registered. This site was the source of a lot of finds from the Imperial period and a necklace of fifty-two blue glass pearls, all exhibited today at the Civic Museum of Rovereto. These discoveries also include two "tongs" fibulae, two belt buckles, a tintinnabulum (bell), all made of bronze, and no less than fourteen coins, datable from the 1st century BC to the second half of the 4th century AD.

Monuments and Places of Interest

The Church of San Pancrazio, located in Isera, is the main religious monument of the area and is easily reachable from Marano. The church, which serves as a parish, was built in the second half of the 15th century and features Gothic architecture. Inside the structure, you can admire numerous masterpieces of art, including a 15th century fresco depicting Saint Christopher, the Madonna and Child with Saint John the Baptist, and the altarpiece of Saint Pancrazio, including several panels painted by the Renaissance painter Giovanni Martino Spanzotti.

Conclusions

If you are visiting Trentino, you should consider spending some time in Marano and Isera. Its Roman history, the Church of San Pancrazio, and the Gothic architecture make this small village full of culture and art, unique. Do not miss the opportunity to admire these wonders!
