The history of Pilzone

The village of Pilzone, named after the noble who ruled the fields of the area, was born during the medieval era and historically belonged to the Quadra di Iseo. During the Napoleonic age, Pilzone was a fraction of Iseo but regained its autonomy with the establishment of the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom. Until shortly before, Pilzone had its own municipality, which counted 342 inhabitants at the Unification of Italy in 1861.
From September 26, 1917, until the end of World War I, Pilzone hosted the 3rd Seaplane Squadron for Lake Iseo. During the conflict, it was also the site of Caproni's aircraft production.
In the 1920s, the municipality of Pilzone was definitively aggregated to Iseo. During the Second World War, it is said that Benito Mussolini attempted to escape from Italy passing through Pilzone, and the village was bombed.

For example, you can take a walk on the Via Valeriana path, a route of about 25 kilometers that connects Pilzone to Brescia.
