Physical Geography
Inveruno has an elongated territory, bordering other locations in the province of Milan such as Arconate, Busto Garolfo, Casorezzo, Ossona, and Mesero. Compared to other mountainous areas of Italy, the territory of Inveruno is predominantly flat and suitable for forests and crops. Its altitude is around 161 meters, and from a seismic point of view, the municipality presents a low level of seismicity, classified as zone 4 by the Department of Civil Protection.
With regard to the climate, Inveruno belongs to climatic zone E, and therefore has cold winters and hot summers, with rainfall concentrated in autumn and spring.
History
Inveruno has very ancient origins, dating back to a period before the Roman era when the territory was inhabited by Gallic populations who had crossed the Alps. During this period, Inveruno seems to have been called "Ever Uno," which in Celtic means "yew tree," due to the widespread presence of this tree species in the area.
Further evidence of the ancient origins of Inveruno was discovered in 1998 when about 200 tombs dating back to the Roman Empire were found, containing ceramics, cinerary urns, work tools, and numerous coins. A fibula in the shape of an eagle was also found, suggesting that the territory was near the consular road "Mediolanum-Novaria."
The first written mention of Inveruno dates back to 922 when it was mentioned as "Euruno" in the document indicating the origin of Domenico, the archpriest of the church of Dairago.
In the thirteenth century, Inveruno was under the jurisdiction of the Chapter of Sant'Ambrogio in Milan and under the dominion of the Crivelli family.
