Imer

Welcome to Imèr!

Hello everyone! Today I'm talking about Imèr, a small town in Trentino-Alto Adige, in the autonomous province of Trento. With its 1172 inhabitants, Imèr is the first town you encounter when entering the Schenèr gorge, the main access to the Primiero valley.

Imèr's location

The town is nestled on the alluvial cone of the San Pietro stream, which flows down from Mount Bedolé and can transform into a powerful mountain torrent during floods and heavy rainfall. Imèr faces south and has a good sunny position, although the presence of Alpe Vederna and Monte Tasé tends to hide the sun, especially in the western part of the town and in the fractions of Masi (Imer) and Pèze.

Discovering Imèr: nature and history in Trentino.

Imèr's development

The town's development follows two main directions: that of the San Pietro stream (from north to south) and that of the State Road 50 of Grappa and Passo Rolle (from east to west). The first considers the historic part of the town, which developed along the path of the stream, while the second focuses on the more recent part of the town, which developed on either side of the main road. From above, the town looks like a rhombus with the stream as the vertical diagonal and the road as the horizontal diagonal.

Imèr's physical geography

The territory

Imèr is surrounded by several mountains. To the southeast is Monte Tasé, while to the south is the Noana valley, which offers a splendid view of the Feltrine peaks and in particular of Mount Pavione. To the west stands Monte Totoga, and from northwest to northeast extends Mount Bedolé. The town is nestled on an alluvial cone that converges, at its lowest point, in the flat expanse called Giare, mainly composed of detrital gravel accumulated by the floods of the Cismon stream, the San Pietro stream, and the Noana stream.

The Solivi

The southern slope of Mount Bedolé, in the municipal territories of Mezzano and Imèr, is called the Solivi, as it faces the sun. The Solivi are opposed by the Pusterni, or the northern slopes of the Vederna and Tasé mountains which, for much of the year, are in shadow.

Conclusions

Imèr is a small town immersed in the wonderful alpine nature of Trentino-Alto Adige. Its location and geography offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the Primiero valley. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy nature, Imèr is the place for you!
