Gudo Visconti
Gudo Visconti: a historic town
Hello everyone! Today I would like to talk to you about Gudo Visconti, a town of 1628 inhabitants located in the metropolitan city of Milan in Lombardy. The name of the town derives in part from the fact that until 1498 it was owned by the Visconti family, who had built a castle here. Unfortunately, the building is now completely destroyed, but some parts are still visible in the structure of a restaurant near the town hall. During the Napoleonic period, the town was briefly annexed first to Zelo Surrigone and then to Rosate.
Churches: the beauty of religious heritage
If you are passionate about ancient churches, I suggest you visit the Church of Saints Quirico and Giulitta, a beautiful building from the 15th century that has undergone some modifications in the following centuries. It is said that the facade was designed by the great Renaissance architect Pellegrino Tibaldi, but there are some controversies about it. Around the church there are also two small chapels, one in the town center and one near the municipal cemetery, which has recently been renovated by some local volunteers.
Society: the lively associative fabric
In Gudo Visconti there are many active local associations that work to enhance the territory and its history. The most important is "La Viscontina", which organizes events and meetings throughout the year. Among these, the Fair of San Costantino, a patronal feast held every September that involves the whole community. In addition, there is the section of the Italian Blood Volunteers Association, which also covers the municipalities of Vermezzo, Zelo Surrigone and Bubbiano, and the "Club Tinca Verde", which takes care of the municipal area with the adjacent lake called "Fontanile Cavo Resta".
As far as sports are concerned, the Association "ACD Gudo Visconti 2007" manages the Municipal Sports Field and organizes sporting events that revolve around amateur football. Let's not forget the Gudo Visconti oratory, which organizes games and activities for children and which has recently launched the Risottata con Delitto, an original themed dinner with a story created by some improvised volunteer actors from the oratory.
Administration: the news of the town
As for administration, I would like to point out that the town of Gudo Visconti has launched some projects to improve the livability of the town. Among these, the creation of a new children's play area and the redevelopment of some streets. In addition, the town has launched a campaign to raise awareness on the importance of waste sorting.
