Branca

Let's discover the Branca fraction!

Hello everyone! Today I'm going to talk about Branca, a charming fraction of the municipality of Gubbio, in Umbria. With an area of 85 km², Branca is only 15.6 km away from its municipality and 6 km from the Fossato di Vico railway station, a railway junction along the Rome-Ancona line.

Branca also hosts the hospital of the municipalities of Gubbio and Gualdo Tadino, but there are also many other attractions and curiosities that are worth discovering!

Education

If you have children, you'll be happy to know that there are several schools here in Branca: the Branca Fraction Kindergarten School and the Ottaviano Nelli State Middle School detached section.

Events

Branca is also famous for its festivals. The most important one is the Madonna del Granello festival, which takes place on August 22nd, but there is another festival that is very particular: the Threshing Festival, on August 6th and 7th. Here you can see the ancient threshing machines.

Infrastructure and Transport

If you travel by train, you should know that until 1945 there was also the Central Apennine Narrow Gauge Railway that started from Arezzo and arrived at the Fossato di Vico station (FAC), passing through Branca, where its Station existed. Today, however, you can reach the fraction by car, through the provincial road that leads from Gubbio to Fossato di Vico.

Sports

Branca also has several sports associations such as ASD Fontanelle Branca and US VIS Branca (Cycling). If you want to practice some sports, you can take advantage of the sports field, where you can play soccer.

Conclusion

Branca is a quiet and relaxing farm where you can enjoy the peace of the Umbrian countryside. Don't miss its festivals, especially the Threshing Festival, or come and visit the hospital of the municipalities of Gubbio and Gualdo Tadino. If you are sports enthusiasts, you can join the many associations or play a soccer match on the sports field. I hope this brief tour of Branca has been useful and intrigued you to visit the Gubbio fraction!
