One of the main attractions of Tiolo is the Church of the Visitation, dating back to the 15th century. This church was defined as "elegant and well decorated" by the bishop of Como Feliciano Niguarda in 1589. With a sober Romanesque-Lombard style bell tower, the church was destroyed by fire in 1618, but then rebuilt and consecrated by Bishop Sisto Carcano in 1624. The church, which was a curacy from 1511, became a parish in 1907. The interior has a single nave, with two side altars.
Title: Wooden Altarpiece of the Main Altar
Another attraction of Tiolo is the Wooden Altarpiece of the Main Altar, with four columns and the statues of San Rocco and San Bernardo, a remarkable wooden work richly decorated and gilded that encloses a painting representing the Visitation of the Virgin Mary to St. Elizabeth, painted by the painter Carlo Marni di Premadio in 1663. The altarpiece was made by the brothers Domenico and Giovan Pietro Ramus, sons of Giovan Battista di Edolo, from 1663 to 1666, who in that period lived in Tiolo in the district house.
