Granze
Welcome to Granze, the agricultural municipality near Padova!
Hello everyone! Today we will talk about a small municipality a few kilometers from Padova: Granze. With its 1970 inhabitants, Granze is a village that develops in an agricultural area and it seems that its name derives from the collection centers of agricultural products of the monastic properties.
But Granze also has a Roman history, as evidenced by the various findings that can be seen at the museum along with the nearby Solesino. The village then became an autonomous municipality in 1914, separating from nearby Vescovana.
Discovering the symbols of Granze
The municipal coat of arms and gonfalon of Granze were granted by decree of the president of the Republic in 1987. The gonfalon is a blue and white split flag and the coat of arms is composed of elements that represent the agricultural background of the village.
Monuments and places of interest: between churches and villas
The village of Granze has several places of interest worth visiting. Let's start with religious architecture: the parish church of Santa Cristina was completed in 1582 and reflects the style of the time, but has been renovated several times. Among the civil architectures, Villa Ca' Conti, now Rusconi-Camerini, is one of the most beautiful places in the village. Built in 1580 in the style of Andrea Palladio, the villa is embellished with a romantic Italian garden and features an oratory that is still active. The villa stands on the remains of a Benedictine control station.
With a representative example of a villa, Granze demonstrates the importance of the Republic of Venice, which governed the area.
Demographic evolution and administration of Granze
Granze is a municipality that has had a constant demographic evolution and the current mayor is Damiano Fusaro, of Italia In Comune.
