Physical Geography
Let's start with physical geography: Mosana is located in the Avisio valley, at 429 meters above sea level. The town has a higher part called Dos, and is about 1.17 km away from Giovo. If you love nature and walking, Mosana is the right destination for you. You'll take fantastic walks, admiring the surrounding panorama and mountain peaks.
History
As for the history of Mosana, there are no certain data on the period of the first human settlement in the hamlet, although we know that human presence has been here since prehistoric times. A useful datum to establish the age of the small urban center is found in the hallway of Casa Piffer: the date 1564 carved on a pillar could be that of the birth of the hamlet.
Monuments and Places of Interest
Mosana is a small hamlet, but it offers several tourist attractions. The panorama that can be admired climbing from Lavis is breathtaking. In addition, there are very interesting churches to visit:
- Church of the Addolorata (Giovo): dating back to the eighteenth century and located on the state road of the val di Cembra, in the extreme west of the town;
- Church of San Giorgio (Giovo): located to the west and isolated from the rest of the small hamlet. You come across it when you climb from Lavis to arrive in Mosana and turn north about halfway through the route. It is the westernmost place of worship in the entire municipality.
Economy
Let's move on to the economy. Starting from the 20th century, much of the local economy, as in the whole municipality, is linked to the cultivation of grapes and the production of wines. Therefore, if you are a lover of good wine, you cannot leave Mosana without tasting a glass of local wine.
