Climate

History

Vibo Valentia has a very interesting history, revealing the strategic importance of its territory since ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. The city corresponds to the ancient Hipponion, an important city of Magna Graecia that would later be colonized by the Roman Empire as Valentia. After being an imperial fortified center in the Middle Ages and passing under Norman control, Monteleone became the capital of Calabria Ulteriore in 1582.
