Welcome to Campo Calabro: an ancient and expanding town

Hello everyone! Let me introduce you to Campo Calabro, an Italian town with a population of about 4400 people. Its name derives from the Latin word "campus", meaning field and countryside. This metropolitan city in Reggio Calabria, Calabria, has always been part of Villa San Giovanni until 1950, when it became an autonomous municipality. Although we do not know when it was founded, we can say that its origins are very ancient.

Campo Calabro: Ancient Roots and Economic Expansion

Demographic evolution

Speaking of numbers, the birth rate in Campo Calabro has been steadily increasing since 2010 and is still continuing to rise. In 2019, the number of newborns was about double the national average. Although this is a positive statistic, it does not allow us to make a prediction for the future, as we do not know the reasons for this increase.

In addition, in recent years, an industrial zone has been created, which means that there has been an economic and employment growth in the town. This expansion is leading to a strong social and economic connection with Reggio Calabria, which is only a few kilometers away.

Culture

Education

There is a very important school in the town: the "Campo Calabro San Roberto" Comprehensive Institute. It was created after the Rationalization Plan of the School Network in the Municipality, my friends. As the name suggests, it is composed of various school levels, in order to provide a complete education to all the students of the place.

Notes

Have you ever wondered if any famous person was born in this town? I'm happy to tell you: yes! Antonino Scopelliti was a magistrate who was assassinated by the mafia in the summer of 1991, right here in Campo Calabro. Furthermore, another important figure with origins in this municipality is Francesco Geraci, a lawyer and anti-fascist teacher.
