Welcome to Gemmano, a municipality in the province of Rimini with a population of around 1117 inhabitants. We are located south of Rimini and our city is rich in history and culture. History of Gemmano

Gemmano has a long history dating back to the period of the archbishops of Ravenna. In 1356, Galeotto I Malatesta took possession of the town and held it until 1504, when ownership passed to the Church. Today, the city is an attractive tourist destination thanks to its varied natural beauty and many places of interest.

Symbols of the city

The coat of arms and flag of the municipality of Gemmano were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on 22 September 2014. The flag is a split banner of white and green.

Demographic evolution

The population of Gemmano has been constantly growing in recent years, reaching a peak of 1117 residents in recent times.

Ethnic groups and foreign minorities

According to ISTAT data as of 31 December 2009, the resident foreign population was 104 people. The nationalities most represented based on their percentage of the total resident population are Albania, Romania, Tunisia, and Morocco.

Culture

Events

During the week of Ferragosto, the city organizes the Sagra della pappardella al cinghiale. This event attracts many people every year and has grown in popularity in recent times.

Since 1982, on May 1st of each year, the Festa della Fava e del Formaggio has been held at the Sanctuary of Madonna di Carbognano, a festival dedicated to the patron saint S.Vincenzo.

Administration

Riziero Santi is the current Mayor of the city as of June 11, 2018. He has previously served as mayor in 2013.
