Rivabella

Welcome to Rivabella, the seaside resort of Gallipoli!

Located between Gallipoli and Lido Conchiglie, Rivabella is a hamlet of the municipality of Gallipoli, in the province of Lecce. This seaside resort is mainly inhabited during the summer and represents an important gathering place for the summer nightlife of the area. In the town, there is also a summer commercial citadel, active for about 15 years.

Economy

Rivabella has developed a solid tourist economy since the 1970s and is presented as a residential and tourist resort. Before its development, the city was called Ponticello because of the bridge built under the coastal road to allow the drainage of rainwater from a canal.

Roman archaeological site

The beach of Rivabella was the site of some important archaeological finds, including some remains of a Roman villa and some burials from the Neolithic period. These historical artifacts are carefully preserved and represent an important cultural heritage of the area.

Torre Sabea

One of the most interesting attractions of Rivabella is the Torre Sabea, a Saracen tower built in the sixteenth century as a protection system against attacks from the sea. The tower, with a square plan, has been restored and is now used as a hotel.
