In 1809, the town was annexed to Daverio, another municipality in the province of Varese, but this union did not last long: already in 1853, Galliate Lombardo returned to being an autonomous municipality, with 387 inhabitants. In 1859, the population had risen to 413 inhabitants, a sign of the importance that the town was acquiring in the panorama of the province of Varese.

Within the municipality, there is a series of municipal offices, which are responsible for ensuring public services to all citizens.
