Galgagnano

Galgagnano: a small rural village in Lombardy

Hello everyone! Today I will talk about Galgagnano, a village of 1315 inhabitants in the province of Lodi in Lombardy. The village is located in a secluded position from the main communication routes and has maintained its ancient rural appearance.

The history of Galgagnano

Galgagnano was owned by the Diocese of Lodi until 1142, when it was transferred to Uberto dei Casetti. The village church, dedicated to San Sisinio martyr, was the center of Pieve until 1440. During the Napoleonic era (1809-1816), Galgagnano was a fraction of Quartiano, but regained autonomy with the constitution of the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom.
