Origins of the name
The name of the village seems to derive from the Bergamo dialect, in particular from the term ''foipià'', which means ''plateau with many beech trees''. However, there is a school of thought that believes that the name may come from the term ''faveanud'', which means ''water pool'', a feature that is very present in the municipal territory.
History

During this period, the most important family was the Locatelli family, which also managed the main activities in the neighboring villages. Only in recent decades, tourism and the revaluation of the territory have prevented this phenomenon, giving new impetus to the village.

In November 1976, Fuipiano Valle Imagna was hit by a terrible landslide that disrupted the lives of its inhabitants. The landslide occurred in the lower part of the municipal territory and swept away the district of Pagafone, completely wiping it out. This episode highlighted the importance of preventing hydrogeological risks and the need for constant monitoring of the territory.
