Frassilongo

Frassilongo, a small municipality with Mochena language and culture

Frassilongo is a municipality in the autonomous province of Trento, located in a valley of the mountain range between Val di Cembra and Valsugana. The village is notable for its Mochena language and culture community, which constitutes the majority of the population.

Origin of the name and toponymy

The name Frassilongo probably derives from the Italian word "fratta", which means "view", from the Latin "fracta". However, most of the toponyms in the village are of German origin, as the territory was part of the German-speaking lordship of Castelli di Pergine until the end of the 1700s.
