Hello everyone! Today I will talk about Frabosa Sottana, an Italian municipality located in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont. The town has about 1590 inhabitants and is part of the mountain community Alto Tanaro Cebano Monregalese.

The History of Frabosa Sottana

Frabosa Sottana decided to be part of the Occitan historical minority. The symbol of the Municipality, the coat of arms, was granted in 1974.

The territory of Frabosa Sottana is divided into several fractions, including Alma, Artesina, Gosi, Pianvignale, Prato Nevoso, Miroglio (Frabosa Sottana), and Riosecco.

Infrastructure and Transport

Frabosa Sottana is located along the provincial road 37 which connects it to Mondovì. From 1902 to 1952, the Municipality was connected to the capital Monregalese through a branch of the Fossano-Mondovì-Villanova tramway, electrified in 1943.

The fraction of Prato Nevoso has been chosen several times as the finish of stages of the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France.

Giro d'Italia

In 1996, Pavel Tonkov won the 13th stage of the Giro d'Italia, while in 2000, Stefano Garzelli won the 18th stage. In 2018, the 18th stage was won by the German Maximilian Schachmann.

Tour de France

In 2008, Simon Gerrans won the 15th stage of the Tour de France in Prato Nevoso.
