Frabosa Soprana
Frabosa Soprana: a small mountain municipality in Piedmont
Frabosa Soprana is a municipality of 747 inhabitants located in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. Its location is particularly suggestive because the village is located at the foot of Mount Moro, on the watershed between Corsaglia/Maudagna. The capital has an altitude of about 900 meters, while the ridge continues to the north, rising to almost 1200 meters of Monte Pelato. The locality is known in Piedmontese as "Frabosa Sovrana" and in Occitan as "Frabouza Soubrana".

Fontane fraction
Among the many fractions of Frabosa Soprana, Fontane is one of the most particular. Here, the spoken language is kje, a variant of Piedmontese. The fraction is also known to have been the birthplace of the bandit Michele Mamino, who in the years between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries controlled vast areas of the territory between the Kingdom of Savoy and the Republic of Genoa. Today, among the attractions of the village, there is also the church of San Bartolomeo.
Economy and tourism
Frabosa Soprana is a tourist destination known mainly for its ski resort. In the 1960s and 1970s, the locality was the second most important ski resort in the province of Cuneo after Limone Piemonte. However, competition from the Artesina and Prato Nevoso stations and the technical difficulty of the slopes had put a strain on the growth of the locality. In recent years, however, thanks to the rationalization and modernization of the facilities and the construction of the ski lift connecting to Prato Nevoso, the Frabosa Soprana ski resort has had a new impulse. In addition to winter activities, the locality is increasingly appreciated for summer activities and hiking in the mountains.
