Fossato Serralta

Welcome to Fossato Serralta!

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk about a small town in southern Italy that perhaps not everyone knows about: Fossato Serralta, or as the locals call it, "Hossàtu" in Calabrian dialect. Located in the province of Catanzaro, in Calabria, this town has only 581 inhabitants, but don't be fooled by its size!

Society

Serralta Moat: a jewel of Calabria blending history and traditions.

Demographic evolution

This municipality has a very ancient history, dating back to Magna Graecia. Despite being a small town, Fossato Serralta has a very diverse population, made up of people of different ages and origins. Its demographic evolution has been quite stable over the years, but some significant changes have occurred in recent decades. In fact, in the 1950s and 1960s, many residents emigrated to other regions of Italy in search of work, but in recent years some young people have returned to their homeland.

Administration

Now let's move on to the administrative part. The current mayor's name is Mario Manno and he was elected in 2019. His administration works hard for the development of the town, despite the difficulties due to its geographical location. In fact, Fossato Serralta is located in a mountainous area and is not easily reachable from other cities. Nevertheless, the administration strives to provide its citizens with all the necessary services and to improve the efficiency of the municipal organization.

Notes
