Florinas: a small town rich in history and culture

Florinas is a municipality located in the province of Sassari, in Sardinia, with a population of 1443 inhabitants. The town has been inhabited since the Nuragic era and during the Roman era it was an important oppidum. During the Middle Ages, it was part of the Giudicato of Torres and was the capital of the homonymous curatorship. After the fall of the giudicato, the area was contested between Pisans and Genoese, finally passing to the Genoese family of Doria and then to the Malaspina. In 1350 it passed under the control of the Aragonese and joined the barony of Ploaghe, remaining there until 1839, when it was redeemed from the Aymerich, the last feudal lords.
