The discovery of Contà
Hello friends! Today I want to talk to you about a small Italian municipality called Contà, located in the autonomous province of Trento in Trentino-Alto Adige. Contà is a very young municipality, having been created on January 1, 2016 by merging the territories of Cunevo, Flavon, and Terres (the administrative center). I enjoy discovering lesser-known small municipalities like this because they often hold surprises!
The history of Contà
Like many Italian municipalities, Contà has its own coat of arms. Described as "divided right," the coat of arms is composed of a shield split in half: the right side is alternating blue and white, while the left is red. In the center of the emblem, there is the head of a rampant lion, different from the coat of arms of the famous noble houses. Around the emblem, there is a black border. The emblem was approved by the autonomous province of Trento on March 8, 2019.
Monuments and places of interest
Although the municipality of Contà is small, there are still many churches to visit! One of the most well-known is the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, located in the hamlet of Cunevo, while other important churches include the Church of Saints Philip and James in Terres, the Church of St. George in Terres, the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena in the municipality of Cunevo, and the Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist in Flavon. If you are passionate about sacred art and religious architecture, you cannot but appreciate these hidden treasures of Contà!
Society
While the municipality of Contà is small and only home to 1,405 inhabitants, it has a rich cultural history and many local traditions. Given the limited number of residents, it is likely that everyone knows each other, creating a unique and welcoming community. Regarding demographic evolution, there have been few noticeable changes in the number of inhabitants in Contà in recent years.
Administration
Since the municipality of Contà was only founded in 2016, there is not yet much information on how the administration works. However, it is known that the mayor is Giuseppe Giordani and that the municipal office is located in the hamlet of Terres.
