Fiumicello Villa Vicentina: a new municipality in Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Fiumicello Villa Vicentina is a municipality in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, formed by the merger of the municipalities of Fiumicello and Villa Vicentina on February 1, 2018. The referendum held on September 24, 2017 was positive, despite 52.53% of voters in Villa Vicentina voting against the merger. The V Permanent Commission of the Regional Council of Friuli Venezia Giulia expressed a favorable opinion on the legislative decree n. 235 establishing the municipality of Fiumicello Villa Vicentina, and from February 1, 2018 the new municipality became operational.
Symbols
The coat of arms and flag of the municipality of Fiumicello Villa Vicentina were granted by the decree of the President of the Republic on August 1, 2019. The coat of arms of the new municipality brings together the emblems of Fiumicello and Villa Vicentina, while the flag consists of a divided blue and yellow drapery.
Monuments and places of interest
The municipality of Fiumicello Villa Vicentina has several monuments and places of interest. In the main town there is the Church of San Valentino, while in the homonymous hamlet there is the Church of San Lorenzo Martire. In Villa Vicentina, instead, there is the Church of Santa Maria, and in Papariano the Church of Maria Santissima Regina.

Languages and dialects
In addition to Italian, the population of Fiumicello Villa Vicentina also speaks the Friulian language. The municipality is included in the list of Italian municipalities with a recognized Friulian linguistic minority for the purposes of the application of Italian Law 482/99, Regional Law 15/96 and Regional Law 29/2007. The Friulian language spoken in Fiumicello Villa Vicentina is one of the variants belonging to the Gorizia Friulian dialect. In addition to Friulian, other dialects are also spoken in the area.

Events
In July, the "Regional Peach Fair" is organized, a well-known event in Friuli. Contests are held for those who have the most beautiful orchard and for those who have the best-looking peaches. Every year in July, the AESON nature arts festival is also organized in the Isonzo park belonging to Fiumicello Villa Vicentina.
