Figino Serenza

Welcome to Figino Serenza!

Hello everyone! Today I will take you on a journey to discover Figino Serenza, a town of just over 5000 inhabitants located in the province of Como, Lombardy. Despite its modest size, Figino Serenza boasts a territory rich in natural and scenic beauties that range from the hills of Brianza to the Serenza and Ramarino streams, present in the area.

Physical geography

If you are nature lovers, Figino Serenza is the perfect place for you! The town is located in the southern part of the Como province, in a hilly area north of Brianza. The hilly territory was produced by the residues of the glaciation called Riss, which overlaid previous gravel deposits, now strongly cemented. The soil of the hills is characterized by a permeable soil composed of sand and gravel. Given the soil's inability to retain water, it penetrates for several tens of meters until it meets an impermeable layer, on which it flows. When water resurfaces, the phenomenon of resurgences (or springs) occurs, which are widespread in the agricultural area of the farms. There are numerous aquifers present in the area, located between 80 and 180 meters deep, which have allowed for the development of agricultural and silk farming.

Hydrography

The town is crossed by the Serenza stream that runs through the homonymous valley, crossing the entire municipal territory. Its banks are steep and rugged, represented by two hills: this made it impossible for residential areas to develop in the Serenza Valley, even if the stream was a considerable water resource for the inhabitants of Figino Serenza in the past, before it was polluted in the aftermath of World War II by unauthorized industrial discharges. Another watercourse present in the municipal territory is the Ramarino stream, a smaller watercourse that flows from east to south, continuing its journey in the municipal territory of Mariano Comense.

Climate

The climate of Figino Serenza is humid temperate, with temperatures ranging from -5/+5 °C in January to +30/+35 °C in July. If you are a farmer or simply a nature lover, this climate is perfect for growing agricultural products and for rearing silk worms, which can thrive thanks to the presence of numerous aquifers in the area.

Conclusions

In summary, Figino Serenza is the perfect place for those seeking a peaceful environment in contact with nature. The hilly territory rich in springs, the presence of the Serenza and Ramarino streams, the mild temperature, and the numerous agricultural activities offer the opportunity to spend pleasant days outdoors and immerse oneself in nature. Don't miss the opportunity to visit this gem of Brianza!
