Discovering Ferrazzano: the history and origins of the town

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about Ferrazzano, a town in the province of Campobasso, Italy. Ferrazzano has a long history and is a very ancient town.

The origins of the town

The old village of Ferrazzano was built stone by stone from the daily toil of a life almost completely dedicated to agriculture. It has been architecturally preserved almost intact for centuries with houses attached to each other for climate reasons and numerous winding and up-and-down alleys. Little or nothing is visible to the naked eye of its very remote past except for some ancient artifacts held by private individuals and museums.

The Roman period

With the fall of the Samnite cities, Rome became more and more powerful and the Samnite territory was subjugated. In 180 B.C. after the subjection of the Apuani, Rome deported a colony of Liguri Bebbiani to the Sannio to facilitate repopulation. This type of colonization served to revive agriculture where the coexistence of different ethnic groups positively influenced the remaining surviving Samnites despite the tragedy. The phenomenon continued slowly until it convinced the Samnites of the usefulness of becoming Roman citizens.

The Italic League

This right, repeatedly rejected by most of the Optimates class, gave rise to the birth of the Italic League, which once again put Rome's power to the test. The forces in the field of the two contenders were equal, but Rome had the advantage of having as allies the Etruscans, Umbrians, Gauls, Greek Italics, and some important cities of the same League: Isernia and Alba Adriatica.
