San Bartolomeo in Bosco has a history that dates back to just under three hundred years, when there was nothing but swamps and a few huts made of reeds and mud. In 1735, the first settlers settled in a new land that emerged in an area called "li Boschi" and built a small oratory on the properties of Count Bartolomeo Masi. Over time, the village became a real community with the construction of the church of San Bartolomeo in 1786 and the appointment of the first parish priest, Don Botti. San Bartolomeo in Bosco has been hit by dramatic events such as the floods of the Reno river (1774, 1896 and 1951) and the earthquakes of 1887 and 2012.
