Valtriano
Valtriano: a hamlet of Fauglia
Hello everyone! Today I will talk about Valtriano, a small hamlet located in the municipality of Fauglia, in the province of Pisa, Tuscany. The hamlet is located on the plain, between Vicarello and Cenaia, and south of the village flows the Isola stream, a tributary of the Scolmatore dell'Arno.
Brief history of Valtriano
Valtriano has a very ancient history: its first name was "Triana", then became "Val Triana", and the village was born in the high-medieval period with the foundation of the church of Santa Maria di Atriana, mentioned in a document dating back to 941. The church of Atriana with the villa of Triana is again remembered in a leveling of the bishop of Lucca Teudegrimo in 983. The church had twelve subsidiary churches. Valtriano developed as a village with an agricultural vocation: here there was an important estate in which numerous peasants worked. In recent times, the hamlet has distinguished itself for the presence of important furniture factories and the main commercial area of the municipality of Fauglia is located here.
What to see in Valtriano
The main attraction of Valtriano is represented by the church of Santa Margherita da Cortona, which is the parish church of the hamlet. This church was built in 1958, after the parish was established on April 25, 1956 at the request of Bishop Felice Beccaro. Until then, the population of Valtriano celebrated religious functions in the chapel of San Paolo near the villa Gotti Porcinari. The church was designed by the architect Bagatti and completed definitively in 1970.

Valtriano is a small hamlet that offers the opportunity to discover the most authentic and collected Tuscany.
