Luciana

Hi everyone, I'm here to talk to you about Luciana, a hamlet in the Italian municipality of Fauglia, in the province of Pisa, located in the beautiful region of Tuscany. It's a small place full of history and charm, where you can find monuments and places of interest to visit.

History

The origins of Luciana date back to the ancient Luci family, Roman settlers who owned these lands. Then, in the Middle Ages, the village was owned by the Gualandi, a noble Pisan family. In 1406, the village was subjugated to Florence, and in 1776, following the Habsburg-Lorraine reforms in Tuscany, it was included in the podesteria of Rosignano Marittimo and in the Chancellery of Lari.

Monuments and Places of Interest

The Church of Santa Lucia, the parish church of the hamlet, is a place of worship dating back to 1740 on a pre-existing medieval building. It was restored after being hit by the earthquake of 1846. Villa Rosselmini, owned by the Poggibonsi of Pisa and then by the Malenchini, preserves some milestones of the Via Æmilia Scauri within its garden. Instead, Villa Giustiniani is a nineteenth-century building with a large garden located on the road leading to the Santo Regolo farm.
