Discovering the Fauglia-Lorenzana Station

Hello friends, today I want to talk to you about the Fauglia-Lorenzana station, a railway station located along the Pisa-Vada railway line near the Acciaiolo hamlet. Unfortunately, this station was discontinued in 1992, but despite this, it continues to attract the attention of many curious people.

The Station's Location

The Fauglia-Lorenzana station served the municipality of Fauglia and the Lorenzana hamlet of the Crespina Lorenzana scattered municipality, and was located in a very convenient position for passengers. In fact, it was located near the town center and two kilometers away from the homonymous highway exit on the A12.

The Fauglia-Lorenzana station: history and curiosities.

The Station's History

The Fauglia-Lorenzana station was inaugurated in 1862, along with the railway line that connected Pisa to Livorno and followed the Tyrrhenian coast. It was also known as the "Acciaiolo Station" because it was located precisely in the Acciaiolo hamlet.

Station Description

The Fauglia-Lorenzana station was presented with a liberty-style building, with a terrace roof that housed a waiting room and a bar. Outside the building, there was a large square for trains to stop and a shelter for passengers. It was equipped with two passing tracks and a siding for locomotive handling.

The End of the Station

Unfortunately, in 1992, the Fauglia-Lorenzana station was closed due to the low train traffic. Since then, the building has remained abandoned and in a state of disrepair, but it still attracts the interest of many curious people, enthusiasts and photographers.

Station Redevelopment

In recent years, much has been talked about regarding the possible redevelopment of the Fauglia-Lorenzana station, also thanks to the commitment of the "Friends of the Railway" cultural association, which is fighting for the recovery of this historical heritage.

Conclusions

As you can see, the Fauglia-Lorenzana station is a place of great historical and cultural interest, which despite its closure continues to attract the attention and curiosity of many people. We hope that it will soon be redeveloped and enhanced for its historical and touristic importance. If you happen to be passing through this area, we recommend visiting this splendid example of railway architecture.
