An Ancient and Interesting History

Fascia has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. The foundation of a primitive settlement could date back to the 1st or 2nd century following the discovery of some artifacts in the present-day town. The first official mention of the Fascia village dates back to 1235 thanks to the discovery of a testamentary document of a certain Beldì, wife of Beltramo di Torriglia. Fascia was part of the imperial fiefs and included in the imperial fief of Torriglia, following its fortunes. In addition, the village of Fascia was part of a series of dominations by different noble families including the Fieschi, Doria, and the Republic of Genoa.

The Transition to the Ligurian Republic

During the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1797, Fascia was established as an autonomous municipality in the newly established Ligurian Republic. With the new French domination, Fascia entered the department of Monti Liguri Orientali, with its capital in Ottone, from 1798 subject to the capital Torriglia of the VI canton of the jurisdiction of Monti Liguri Eastern and from 1803 the main center of the IV canton of Trebbia in the Entella jurisdiction.

Conclusion

Fascia is a small municipality in Liguria that offers a beautiful naturalistic experience thanks to its geographic position in the Antola Regional Natural Park. Its rich and ancient history makes it an interesting place to visit for anyone interested in the history and geography of Liguria. This municipality often goes unnoticed, but it certainly deserves to be discovered.
