Farra di Soligo: history, nature, and precious wine.

History

The municipality of Farra di Soligo has roots that probably date back to the Lombard era. In the ninth century it was part of the Treviso Marca and in the tenth century it became part of the Diocese of Vittorio Veneto. In the thirteenth century it passed to the Da Camino family, who then ceded it to the Collalto counts, who in turn ceded it to Venice. The Da Camino of the Ceneda di Sotto branch tried until 1422 to oppose Venice in order to regain Farra.

Symbols

The municipality has its own coat of arms and flag, which represent the medieval fortifications present in the area. The black cross patent and scorched is a symbol of the Da Camino lordship.

Honours

The municipality received a bronze medal for civilian valor for the dignity and resistance shown during the fierce reprisals suffered by Nazi troops on September 1, 1944 in Farra di Soligo.
